Responsibilities

Typical Duties

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all-encompassing. Each person is expected to help in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule.

  1. Performs routine design tasks such as ductwork, pipe sizing, or electrical branch
    circuitry. Works on portions of projects under the direction of others.
  2. Is encouraged to try to solve engineering problems using experience, judgment, and
    education, but is expected to ask for assistance when needed.
  3. Input of data into pre-written computer programs
  4. Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the
    Project/Designer/Engineer.
  5. May prepare the drawings of designs he/she has originated or from sketches provided
    by others.
  6. Maintain a neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project
    information required by other team members.

Limits of Authority

Has authority to perform design duties, which are checked for accuracy by themselves & others.
Keeps the Project/Designer/Engineer aware of workload and requests work when needed.

Relationship to Others

Reports to the Project Designer/Engineer. Under the close supervision of the Project
Designer/Engineer. Will work with equipment suppliers to obtain equipment information.

Required Skills

Knowledge and Experience Required

  1. Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited
    university or equivalent.
  2. Continue the learning process by attending in-house seminars and continuing education
    opportunities outside of the office. Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam is
    encouraged.
  3. Experience with Autodesk Revit and load calculation software such as IES VE, Trane TRACE 3D, or Carrier HAP. Experience with IES VE is a plus.
