Noble Street Charter School was established to provide access to a safe, rigorous, college-prep education for students throughout Chicago who want to build a foundation for college success.

Hansberry College Prep is housed in a former grade school building originally built in 1954 but vacant since 1993. The original one story building was adapted to include a new gymnasium surrounded by classrooms and the main entry. The 38,500 square foot addition single story addition quadrupled the facility space and provides academic spaces organized around three semi-private courtyards.

Sustainable strategies include utilizing non-composite insulated precast panels and a super insulated spray foam roof to achieve a quiet and energy efficient envelope with abundant internal thermal mass; demand controls and energy recovery within the mechanical system; and diverting rainwater directly to the courtyard gardens.
